Terms of Service

01

Who we are

TheMetalNet is a visual, interactive guide to heavy metal — genres, bands, albums, and personal collections presented as an explorable universe. The Service is operated by Solaris Endeavors Ltd, a company registered in Israel (“Solaris”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us at contact@solaris-e.com or through the support page. We aim to respond to formal legal requests within 30 days.

By using the Service you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

02

The service

You may use the Service without creating an account. Creating an account unlocks saving, syncing, and sharing. Features, catalog coverage, and availability can change; we may add, modify, or remove functionality as the product develops.

Some band names, album titles, lyrics, and imagery shown on the Service contain explicit or graphic material by their nature. Viewer discretion is advised. This content comes from third parties and is shown for factual identification — see Content sourcing below.

03

Eligibility and accounts

You must be old enough to consent to data processing in your jurisdiction. Creating an account and making a contribution are intended for users 16 or older, or the minimum age required where you live if higher. If you are under the age required where you live, you may use those features only with permission from a parent or guardian; browsing itself has no age requirement.

You are responsible for activity that happens through your account. Keep your sign in method secure and give accurate information. If you believe someone else has access to your account, change your credentials and contact support.

Usernames and display names must not impersonate others, violate trademarks, or contain slurs or harassment. We may reclaim or change names that create confusion or abuse.

04

Your content and collections

You may upload a profile image and write a short bio. You retain ownership of what you submit. By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to host, resize, display, and cache it solely to operate the Service.

Galaxies, likes, and other collections you build are stored on our servers when you are signed in. Public share links expose only what you choose to share. Do not use sharing to distribute material you do not have rights to. The Service does not currently offer open posting, comments, or forums; if that changes, we will add content rules, a license, and a takedown policy at that time.

05

Content sourcing and fair use

TheMetalNet is an informational and educational tool. It shows factual music information — artists, releases, line-ups, genres, and how they relate — through interactive visualizations, search, and filters, rather than hosting the underlying creative works itself.

  • Core music metadata is drawn from MusicBrainz / MetaBrainz, public domain under CC0 1.0.
  • Descriptive text may draw on Wikipedia / Wikimedia under CC BY-SA 4.0; where we adapt it, we credit the source and share our adaptation under the same license.
  • Album art and audio previews, where shown, stream directly from official third party players. We do not host, store, or redistribute audio, band logos, or album artwork on our servers.
  • Artist, band, and label names, trademarks, and imagery are shown for factual identification only. No affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement is implied.

TheMetalNet is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by MusicBrainz, MetaBrainz, the Wikimedia Foundation, or any artist, band, or label. If you are a rights holder and believe something should be corrected or removed, see Copyright and content notices below.

06

Catalog and third party material

Artist names, releases, cover art, and metadata come from licensed and public sources, including music databases and streaming APIs. We do not claim ownership of that catalog data. Cover images may be served from external archives and are subject to those hosts' terms.

Playback previews and deep links may route through third party platforms. Your use of those platforms is governed by their own agreements.

07

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service. Prohibited behavior includes:

  • Attempting to break, overload, or reverse engineer the Service or its APIs
  • Scraping or bulk downloading catalog data outside provided interfaces
  • Using the Service or any connected third party data to build or train a competing product, model, or dataset
  • Submitting false support reports or fraudulent payment information
  • Falsifying your age or bypassing an age related restriction
  • Harassing other users or staff through support channels
  • Using the Service for unlawful purposes

Automated access is not allowed, except for well behaved search engines and crawlers that respect our robots.txt.

We may suspend or terminate access that threatens stability, security, or other users. Where practical we will warn you first, but we may act immediately for serious abuse.

08

Third party services

Third party services and data sources used by the Service are not under our control. Their availability and policies may change without notice, and streaming or catalog features may change or stop if a provider changes or ends its service, with no liability to us.

09

Contributions

Financial support is voluntary. Preset tiers and a custom amount range are shown before checkout. Payments are processed by Polar, which acts as the merchant of record and is responsible for collecting and remitting any applicable sales tax or VAT; we do not receive or store your full card details. Unless required by law, contributions are not refundable once completed and give you no goods, services, or perks in return. They are not charitable donations and are not tax deductible. Chargebacks or payment disputes may result in loss of supporter recognition tied to that payment.

Contributions support platform development, hosting, and maintenance. We do not guarantee specific features, timelines, or outcomes in exchange for a contribution.

10

Privacy

Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy. By using the Service you acknowledge that processing described there will occur, including what we collect as a guest, what changes when you sign in, and how analytics, cookies, and third party processors fit in.

12

Disclaimers

The Service is provided as is and as available. Catalog data may be incomplete or incorrect, is community and third party sourced, and should not be relied on as an authoritative source. Recommendations are algorithmic and not endorsements. We do not promise uninterrupted access, error free operation, or that the Service will meet every expectation.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non infringement, except warranties that cannot be excluded under consumer law.

13

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred United States dollars. Any claim must be brought within twelve months of the event that caused it, to the extent the law allows.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, willful misconduct or gross negligence, or anything that cannot be limited under mandatory law, including consumer law and the Israeli Standard Contracts Law, 5743-1982. If you are a consumer, these Terms do not affect your mandatory statutory rights.

14

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and the competent courts of the Tel Aviv-Jaffa district have exclusive jurisdiction. Before starting formal proceedings, both sides will try to resolve the matter directly for 30 days, except for urgent matters or claims about intellectual property or injunctions. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory protections of your country of residence and any right to bring proceedings there that cannot be excluded.

15

Changes and contact

We may update these Terms as the product matures. Continued use after a posted update means you accept the revised Terms. If a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you in the app or by email, and where a feature uses your personal data, give you a chance to stop using it or disconnect before the change takes effect.

Questions about these Terms can be sent through the support page or to contact@solaris-e.com.
