Progressive Metalcore

Progressive metalcore expands metalcore with the ambition of progressive metal — longer, more intricate songs, unusual time signatures, genre detours, and often the low-tuned, syncopated grooves of djent. Between the Buried and Me pioneered the sprawling, everything-at-once approach in the mid-2000s, while Periphery folded in djent precision and soaring melody. Expect harsh-and-clean vocal contrasts, technical playing, and dynamic shifts from brutal to atmospheric. It is metalcore with a composer’s ambition.
