Downtempo Deathcore

Downtempo deathcore strips deathcore down to its heaviest impulse — extremely slow tempos, dissonant lead lines, and enormous, drawn-out breakdowns designed to feel physically crushing. It leans as much on beatdown hardcore and nu-metal groove as on death metal, prioritizing sheer weight over speed or technicality. Bands like Traitors, Angelmaker, and later Mental Cruelty specialize in this bulldozing, pit-clearing approach. It is deathcore built almost entirely around the drop.
