Doomgaze

Doomgaze is where doom metal’s slow, downtuned weight meets shoegaze’s reverb-soaked haze, producing dreamy, melancholic music built on huge, blurred guitars and ethereal vocals. It emerged in the 2000s with acts like Nadja, Jesu, and The Angelic Process, taking doom’s crawling tempos and drowning them in wall-of-sound texture. Later bands like True Widow gave it a hypnotic, song-oriented pull. The mood is introspective and sorrowful rather than aggressive.
