**Dirge** is a sludge metal band, from France, active 1994 to present.

Dirge was a French post-metal band formed in 1994. From the industrial metal genre that exploded in the first part of the 90s, the band slowly evolved toward a more atmospheric and progressive form of metal, comparable to post-metal bands such as Neurosis and Isis.
